With the postponement of Orange County Speedway, it allowed just enough time for game plans to be put in action. For some, it meant bringing a completely different car, like Jamie Mosley. But for others, it meant making tough decisions. After sustaining multiple injuries as a result from careening into the outside wall, points leader AJ Henriksen opted to sit out Newport. With the 4/10 of a mile bullring’s 26 degree banking meaning excessive g-forces and load on the body, risking extra strain was something Henriksen was not going to do, especially when you know the further points implications that can cause down the road.

Back with a new motor and a chip on his shoulder, Chris Burns snatched away the ChaLew Performance Pole Award for twin 50 lapper #1. Dominion winner Brandon Kinzer led the field to green after the invert, looking to make it two in a row in his short but blooming asphalt career.

With an old Kitzmiller car at his fingertips, Jamie Mosley quickly took his matte black #11 to the front. After the lap 20 competition caution, Burns gave a valiant effort from the outside lane. But Mosley was just too strong as he slammed the door on Burns’ #19. Behind them, Super Dave Hutchinson and a returning ShoTime Mike put on a show for the Tennessee faithful for a spot in the top five. Bob Schacht would unfortunately have to park his machine prematurely after mechanical woes sidelined the #75. All of this took place in Mosley’s rear view mirror as the Jailbreaker Racing machine set sail en route to Mosley’s second career GNSS victory. Burns held strong for second, Kinzer settles for third, Hutchinson grabs a great fourth, and ShoTime Mike comes back with a top 5 run. With his fourth place effort, Hutchinson bags the first Howe Racing Enterprises Award of the night.

It’s the same song, different dance for Brandon Kinzer in race two, once again being the beneficiary of the invert. With the temperature down drastically, Kinzer is one of the first to navigate his machine up a lane. Although he finds speed, Burns and Mosley once again show their muscle as they find themselves 1-2. Some classic short track racing gamesmanship on the restart leads to one of the most memorable battles in GNSS history. With both cars on the razors edge of control, Mosley dives down deep to the inside of Burns and the two remain side by side for a handful of laps before Mosley takes sole control. But that doesn’t deter Burns as he dirt tracks into the entries to try to find some sort of opening beside Mosley. With one last ditch effort on the final lap, Burns nearly loses control but hangs on to it as Mosley doubles up in the Volunteer State.

“I knew he was a little better than us, but we tried to get everything we could. Might’ve killed the tires too much in the first race.” Burns remarked after the two shook hands on the frontstretch. “But you know what, it’s in one piece. Motor’s good. We’ll go to Kenly next weekend and see if we can’t get us a couple wins there.”

“Well, Chris is just so good. He’s such a talented race car driver. Dominion two weeks ago, he was gonna beat us with two different cars but just had misfortune and didn’t get to finish the deal.” said Mosley when asked about the battle between the two racers. “Really appreciate Scott and his whole team there at Spec for giving us good power. Cook Racing Technologies and Greg Lucas right there. I can’t say enough about him and Bobby and all they do. This car had sat in the shop forever and we got it back going and it wins the first two races out. That’s certainly not what we came into the weekend expecting.”

Also doubling up on the weekend is Super Dave with two Howe Racing Enterprises Hard Charger Awards on the night.

Next up this Saturday night is the Grand National Super Series Presented By ECC’s inaugural visit to Southern National Motorsports Park. Originally slated for 2025, rain kept the tour away, but with the current forecast showing gorgeous conditions, it seems that will be reversed in 2026.

With Dominion in the rearview mirror, a handful of GNSS teams had their work cut out for them

[3

post-506","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-gnss-racing
["GET
