When the best of the best in any discipline collide, they\u2019re bound to bring the best out of each other. The blood, sweat, and tears of the competitors come to blows, providing a showcase of talent that fans will remember for years to come. As for the Grand National Super Series Presented By Engineered Components Company, 2025 has been a song of sorts. No matter the twists and turns of lyrics and time signatures, it all flows together in the end to form the same melody. Despite more challenges from Mother Nature, light would burst from the clouds just in time for qualifying efforts, introducing a new verse to the song\u2026.<\/p>\n

A scolding lap of 15.883 seconds secured Jeremy Mayfield yet another ChaLew Performance Pole Award, but after the invert, Mayfield\u2019s D2 Motorsports rookie teammate Matthew Francis would lead the field to green. Francis, son of former winning NASCAR Cup Series crew chief Kenny Francis who led Mayfield to the 2004 Chase, comes from a dirt background, so getting himself acclimated to the heavyset machines of the GNSS was sure to be a challenge. Shortly after the green, Francis would slot into the middle of the pack, giving way to early leader Chris Burns. Among Burns\u2019 earliest challenges came from Jamie Mosley. Despite Mosley\u2019s advances, tearing through the field like a bullet was Mayfield from sixth. Taking advantage of Burns and Mosley dueling, Mayfield killed two birds with one stone and set sail up front. But it wasn\u2019t long before he had company. That company you ask? None other than Mayfield\u2019s current fiercest rival, AJ Henriksen. Both ended the race practically putting down qualifying laps, with Henriksen having bouts of closing the gap. In the end however, Mayfield had the stronger car and walked away with the first victory of the evening, also taking the Howe Racing Enterprises Hard Charger Award in the process. Henriksen hangs on for second ahead of another career run for Mosley in third, tying his career best effort from Caraway. <\/p>\n

With redemption on his mind, Burns headed the pack for race two. As has been the case all of 2025 however, the car wouldn\u2019t cooperate, unfortunately relegating him to drop multiple positions and eventually head to pit road under the competition caution for adjustments. Picking up the bones was none other than Mayfield and Henriksen once again, with Mosley and Bob Schacht in tow. A furious battle between Mosley and Schacht for a spot on the podium would eventually result in both drivers going for a loop in turn four. Despite this, both were able to pick up where they left off, with Schacht finally gaining the advantage in third. All eyes however were glued to Mayfield and Henriksen, both locked in a dead heat for the top position. Mayfield up high, Henriksen down low, it was truly anybody\u2019s game. The crowd then rose to their feet with five to go as tensions started to spike. Both traded the occasional contact, still side by side coming to the white. Once the checkered fell, it was Henriksen who gets the drive on the inside and prevails against Mayfield in one of the best finishes in GNSS history. Coming home third is Bob Schacht with a much needed good run after what has so far been a year to forget. To the victor go the spoils as AJ Henriksen not only leaves with the second twin 50 trophy but also with the second Howe Racing Enterprises Hard Charger Award.<\/p>\n

After the second race, both Mayfield and Henriksen congratulated each other in victory lane, knowing what had just transpired was special. Next on the docket sees a trip to Appalachia where the GNSS invades Lonesome Pine Motorsports Park. Will we see the same tune continue or will another driver finally skip over and write their own song?<\/p>\n
